Summer/Fall 2009
Construction
Alert Page
With the closing of
Division St. on July 10th, our beloved Coldwater has been partitioned
into two halves! This is for a CBPU water main upgrade project. For
some reason, the contractor has chosen to close ALL the affected
streets at the same time, thus creating major headaches for residents
as well as out-of-town visitors. CAUTION: The detours are NOT posted
very well and do not make sense.
MyColdwater.com suggests the following detours below.
UPDATE, 10/15/2009: Sprague St.
has finally been re-opened! You can now go all the way through on that
street, including getting to the hostiptal emergency room.
UPDATE, 10/21/2009: State St.
has now been closed east of Marshall St. for reconstruction.
UPDATE, 10/23/2009: Yea!
Despite the street being stripped down to the dirt on Wednesday, it is
now paved and re-opened today! (Wish they could have done Washington
St. that fast!) Construction is not completely finished so temporary
closures MAY still be possible.
UPDATE, 10/25/2009: Washington
St. has reopened! I believe all streets are now open, and construction
is finally wrapping up.

Washington St. is
accessible to residents living on the street but
is otherwise "closed to through traffic." Some people are ignoring the
signs and driving through anyway instead of going around to the detours
- MyColdwater.com does not endorse this. Use the suggested detours
above and you should be able to get around fairly easily and legally
(and safely).

Here's an example (below) of one of the confusing detour signs... it
should say Division St., not Washington, and why detour traffic all the
way to the west side of the airport, multiple miles out of the way,
then back downtown?

Here's State St. (eastbound at Marshall St.) when it was stripped down
to dirt:
