The big news around town this week is the sentencing of James Krause, the owner of Crossroads Alignment. Normally I would try to stay neutral about such things, but since there is a MyColdwater.com sign in the window of Crossroads Alignment, I've found myself right in the middle of it, so I feel I need to make a brief statement. Although I appreciate James' support of MyColdwater.com and his friendship, I in no way support or excuse what he did. I am glad that he has admitted to the crime and apologized to the victim, but that in no way excuses him from the punishment that he now must face. It is a sad day, sad for him, sad for the people he hurt, and sad for Coldwater. We all must pick up the pieces and try to move on.

The Speedway gas station by Walmart closed over the weekend for the purpose of remodeling. On Sunday, yellow tape was put up, followed by fencing all the way around the property on Monday. The owner of the gas station wants to put in a walk-in "beer cave" cooler. I talked with the contractor, and he said that he expected the work to be done in 5 weeks.

The Coldwater High School Cardinals pulled of a huge homecoming victory over Marshall last Friday night. It was a big event - there even was an airplane circling overhead with a huge advertisement banner for a local bank. Once again, a huge crowd turned out for the downtown Applefest, despite some intermittent rainy weather. Click here to see the photos. Near the bottom you can see if you can figure out why so many were lined up at the unmarked "mystery" tent (answer is also posted).

We just got the City of Coldwater / CBPU "Between the Lines" Sept. 2010 newsletter in the mail. They're advertising the Halloween parade on page 2, but the photo is obviously not of Coldwater's parade nor even from Coldwater. It looks like Mardi Gras or something! Have the clowns come to take us over?
